"Senso" sensory regulation products
97% of the people diagnosed with autism have disorders in sensory regulation.
People experiencing such disorders may experience minor stimuli as acute; even the sound of dripping water can be disturbing. It can also cause under-responsivity, a condition that causes strong and vexing need for sensory stimulation.
Customized sensory stimulation such as sound, smell, texture or visual "show" can relieve the disorder.
In my project, I designed "smart" products that produce different kinds of sensory stimuli.
Each product is personally customized to match the specific unique needs of every customer.
The products are portable and can be used everywhere and at any time, not only in a treatment environment.
In order to adapt the products to the targeted audience, with low function I designed the products to match the behavior and acts of self-stimulatory behavior that is typical to people in the autism spectrum, such as sealing ears, repetitive body swinging, staring at an object in motion, smelling the wrist.
The products contain sensors that gather information on the usage and on body measures of the user and send it to an application (IOT).
Analyzing the data from non-verbal users allows us to understand their emotions better. The information allows glancing into their world, and helps improve their quality of life.
Sound shell: A product for auditory stimulus. It produces repetitive and relaxing sounds that are customized to the user.
The use of this product is similar to the typical act of sealing ears, the sound changes in rhythm as a respond to the repetitive swing movements.
The product comes in various colors, adapted to the personal sensory profile.
Hyper-visual - soothing colors - blue green and turquoise
Hippo Visual - Colors that create stimulation- red, orange, and yellow.
Fragrant bracelet- stimulating the sense of smell. Made from fragrance soaked in nano-polymer.
Usage- rubbing and smelling similar to the typical act of smelling the wrist.
"The urchin"- A product for tactile and visual stimulus. Made from smart material that change its textures and colors electronically.
The texture and the visual appearance can be customize to the user.
The fragrance is customized to the user, relaxing or awakening.
